2013: MN Races

I finally sat down and went through all of the races happening in MN this year, and compiled a list.  Then, with Tom's help, we finalized that list, and I'm happy to share that below is what we're planning to take on! Last year we participated in the Securian Winter 5k in January (my first 5k ever - I finished at 36:35), Irish for a Day 5k (I actually didn't compete becuase I came down with a horribly awful cold), and the Color Run. This year, I wanted to not only increase the number of races, but also try my first 10k - it's one of my New Year's resolutions :)

  • March 17th - St. Patrick's Irish Traditions 5k - Como Lake, St. Paul - We will be running this race with Tom's co-workers, and I can't wait to dress up and have some fun!
  • June 16th - Minnesota Vikings Grid Iron Gallop - Lake Nokomis, Minneapolis - I can't express how excited I am for this race. Chad Greenway and his wife are hosting the run, and apprently there will be Vikings players there to sign autographs. Color me thrilled!!
  • August 24th - Minnesota Zoo Tiger Tracks - Minnesota Zoo, Apple Valley - Again, another race I can't wait to take part in. Half of the course runs THROUGH the zoo - how awesome is that?!
I found all of the races (except for the St. Patrick's Day run) via Anderson Race Management. I love how this website is set up - they make it incredibly easy to navigate so you know which races are chip-timed, if there are awards, if the course is certified, etc. AWESOME!! One bummer about last year's Color Run (aside from the THOUSANDS of people) was that it wasn't a chip-timed race. While I like fun running, I also like setting goals and trying to beat my personal best time.

This should be a great year for running. I'm excited, amped up, and ready to go!!
