I lost almost 6 pounds in 10 days on the juice fast. Even more than that, I gained a sense of how much better my life can be by sticking to a healthier diet. I probably would've lost more weight had I stuck to just juice, but I simply couldn't commit to that, and I didn't want to set myself up for failure. So I stuck to juice, fresh fruits and veggies.
It's amazing how much you can learn about yourself in only 10 days. Here are some key insights I realized:
- You have no idea how much you're tempted on a daily basis until you cut processed food out of your diet completely.
- I have a new found respect for those who refrain from eating certain things e.g. vegetarians, vegans, etc. It's very hard to do, and I will never judge again.
- You quickly find out what your weaknesses are.
- You also quickly find out what aspects of your life have the worst impact on your diet (if I'm being honest - for me, it was the workplace)
- You realize how strong you are - believe me when I say that I did NOT think I would even last a day. Tom had a lot more confidence/belief in me than I had in myself, which brings me to my last point:
- It's much much easier to do a diet/fast as a team. Since Tom and I did this together, it made it easier for me to refrain from indulging (for the most part). Having someone to cheer you on (and you helping cheer someone else on) holds you more accountable, and you really stop to ask yourself "Do I really NEED that cookie? Tom would be so disappointed..." Working as a team definitely helps.
